Thesis Project - .
Thesis work to achieve Honors in the Major Distinction in the Studio Art program at FSU. Fall 2022.
On November 28th, 2022, I defended my senior thesis to complete the requirements of FSU’s Honors in The Major Two-semester Program.
My creative research project titled: Where are the Women? A critical Evaluation of Female Representation in Science Fiction, Horror and Action Film Posters explores gender biases in the science fiction, horror, and action film genres during the 1990s and criticizes male-centered poster design, proposing alternative poster design solutions that highlight the female characters instead while remaining appealing to target audiences. The goal of the research was to both identify the driving factors of gender biases in modern advertisements and to serve as an exercise to dabble into film poster design.
The thesis was presented in magazine format to the defense committee and the posters were printed in 24 x 36 matte heavy weight paper with some details then screen printed with semi-transparent glossy ink.
My full research paper and magazine containing earlier drafts and sketches are available on FSU’s Diginole database and upon request for non-commercial purposes only. All writing and illustrations are original work.
